Hamid Mirsalimi, Ph.D., ABPP

 

Education

I received my bachelor’s degree in psychology at the University of Texas at Austin.  I went on to receive my masters degree in psychology at California State University at Los Angeles, and my Ph.D. in clinical psychology at Georgia State University, where I was the recipient of the Worthington Award for Outstanding Potential in Psychotherapy.  I completed a year of internship training as a Clinical Fellow in Psychology, in the Department of Psychiatry, at Harvard Medical School/McLean Hospital.  Subsequent to that training, I completed a year of postdoctoral fellowship at the Mental Health Service of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care in Boston.  Returning to Atlanta, I completed a second postdoctoral year at the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences of Emory University School of Medicine.
 
 
Board Certification

I am board certified in Clinical Psychology (American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP)).  I was also the southeast board member of the American Board of Clinical Psychology (ABCP) from January 2010 to December 2013, serving as the treasurer of the board for the last three years.

Teaching

I am a Professor of Clinical Psychology at the Georgia School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University, where I teach a variety of courses including a Seminar in Psychotherapy, Group Psychotherapy, and Research and Evaluation.  I have taught at California State University at Los Angeles, as well as Georgia State University prior to my position at the Georgia School of Professional Psychology.  I have over twenty years of teaching experience in the areas of psychology and human growth. In 2006, I was the recipient of the Argosy University Presidential Award for Teaching Excellence.
